Sylva DMV

North Carolina driver-license office · Jackson County

Address: 876 Skyland Drive, Suite 2, Sylva NC 28779
Phone: (828) 586-5413
Hours: 8:00AM - 4:30PM (Mon–Fri)
County: Jackson County

Plan for 4:30PM, not 5:00PM. The state lists 5:00PM for this office in its location directory, but its own live wait feed says 4:30PM — and across every day we have recorded, offices stop reporting as open at about 4:21pm. Many stop adding people to the walk-in list before that.

Median wait by weekday, from the state’s wait feed. Each bar is the median across 6–8 separate days we recorded here, so a day we happened to poll more often cannot outweigh one we polled less. We do not publish this chart at all until every weekday has at least 3 observed days behind it. An estimate, never a promised wait.

Making a trip of it?

This is one of the offices people drive out to — and it is about 14 miles from Bryson City & Nantahala. If you are coming from out of the area and would rather not do it as a round trip in one day, our sister site It’s Giving Gone tracks below-market last-minute stays there.

It’s Giving Gone is ours and it earns affiliate commission on bookings. It has no input into the office rankings on this page, which come from measured wait data and distance only — nothing on Seen NC is ordered by who pays.

Where these numbers come from. The North Carolina DOT's own public wait feed, sampled through the day and archived — the state publishes only the current instant, so this record exists nowhere else. How it works · every office ranked · The State of the NC DMV. Data as of 2026-10-08.
